Rainbow Springs State Park
Rainbow River in Dunnellon, Florida is one of the state’s most beautiful spring-fed waterways, celebrated for crystal-clear water, lush submerged vegetation, abundant wildlife, and a relaxed Old Florida atmosphere. Flowing from the iconic Rainbow Springs headsprings, this scenic river offers visitors a memorable blend of natural beauty, refreshing water, and one of the most inviting paddling and floating settings in Central Florida.
Rainbow Springs State Park is the most polished and iconic way to experience the river, pairing the headsprings area with landscaped gardens, waterfalls, shaded walking trails, a designated swimming and snorkeling area, canoe/kayak launch access and a restaurant. It is ideal for visitors looking for a full Florida day rather than just time on the water. A helpful planning note for guests: the park currently has limited parking during renovations, and day-use reservations begin April 29, 2026, so arriving early and planning ahead is wise. Admission is modest at $5 per vehicle for two to eight people, $4 for a single-occupant vehicle, and $2 for pedestrians or bicyclists.
Quick tips:
Plan ahead for Rainbow Springs State Park, especially on busy days, since parking can be limited and reservations may be needed for day use. It also helps to know the park has separate entrances for headsprings day use, tubing, and camping, and paddlers should expect a longer walk from parking to the launch.
